I began championing autism insurance legislation in 2011 as the Vice President of the Utah Autism Coalition. In the beginning I was green and naïve about the small but very important details that are crucial to turning a bill into a law.
Over the last four years I have worked tirelessly on difficult autism insurance legislation and have learned how to navigate the Utah legislative process. I have learned about the small, but very important details that are crucial when negotiating through Utah’s legislative bodies. I have learned how important it is to work across the aisle and involve key stake holders throughout the process. And I have learned how critical it is for legislators to listen to the expertise and voice of their constituents.
Utah has big issues that need to be addressed – when tackling these issues experience matters.
Special thank you to Senator Brian Shiozawa and Representative Ronda Menlove for their dedication to autism families in Utah. It has been a pleasure working closely with both of you.
